Start by running wTerm for serial communication with the Baytech PDU (a web-enabled Power Distribution Unit):

This opens the wTerm window:

If the parameters are not as shown above, change them to match above. (They should never need to be adjusted.)

Click the Connect button to connect to the Baytech PDU. The "Text to Send" box will become active. Click in the box, and press the Return key to request a menu from the Baytech. The menu looks like this:

You can enter commands in the "Text to Send" box. To turn stuff ON, us this syntax: on x, where x is a number from 1-4. Or off x, where x is a number from 1-4. For example, to turn on the lights, the command is on 4. Type this into the box, then hit the Return key.

The menu area will change after you press Return, asking for verification. Type Y in the box, and press return.

This displays the menu again. Note that the menu is scrolling, not full screen. This is standard for serial communication.

You can enter (and then verify) ON and OFF commands for each of the 4 devices. Turn the lights ON when you want to use the video camera, OFF otherwise. It is safe to leave wTerm on all night.
